  • We sell generators directly to home owners, but not without doing our part upfront and safeguarding their purchase. Home owners will have to tell us the items in their home that they would like to draw power to in the case of a power outage. We then do an analysis, determine the wattage required to power those items, and match the wattage to the power generation capabilities of our generators. We then select the ideal model to adequately handle that electrical load. We order the generator straight from the factory and ensure it is delivered directly to the homeowner's property for installation. Back to List

  • Business owners rely on backup power to protect their business interests, work, and bottom line. We determine the wattage an office space needs to ensure they can remain operational in the event of a power outage. The total wattage requirements are then totaled to determine what unit is needed to supply the proper electrical load. We order the generator straight from the factory and ensure its safe, seamless delivery to the commercial property where it will be installed. Back to List

  • Most of our generators are sold to Maryland electricians. Electricians typically field generator installation requests from their customers. When that happens they contact us with the customer's load requirements and we help choose the unit that best suits the customer's needs. We order the unit and deliver it directly to the installation site. The unit can also be picked up at our shop at the electricians request. Back to List

  • It's not only home owners, business owners, and electricians that reach out to us on a regular basis with power generation needs. Builders also routinely need backup power. New construction and complete renovation projects often call for new or updated backup power systems. In these instances we are a direct line for builders in search of multiple units that can be delivered in a timely fashion. Once an order is placed we will ensure delivery directly to the construction site. Back to List

  • We start by determining what household items the generator should run in the case of a power outage. Powering an entire home and everything in it will take more wattage than powering only certain necessary appliances, pumps, and heaters. We will then add the wattage of everything that needs to be powered to reach a total wattage. The total wattage output is not nearly as simple as it may seem. Appliances like air conditioners, refrigerators, and sump pumps draw more momentary wattage when they are cycling on. Those surge watts need to be accounted for in order to know exactly how much wattage hardwired appliances require. Our team of electricians will pin down the exact figure and compute a precise total wattage. Home standby generators can handle an electrical load up to 20,000 watts (20kW). The Cummins RS20A is one such example of a 20kW unit. Any home that operates with a lower wattage output can be powered entirely by the RS20A or another 20kW generator, like the Generac 70391 Guardian. A home that operates on significantly less power, say 11,000 watts for example, can be handled by a standby generator like the Cummins RS13A, which has a 13,000 watt (13kW) capacity. Back to List

  • When installing a Cummins or Generac home generator unit, we ensure that the installation is both properly configured and aesthetically pleasing. The first, and most important, thing we check is local codes and clearance requirements, which vary from county to county in Maryland. All home standby generators must be situated certain distances from a home and surrounding objects. We follow established guidelines to prevent operational issues and alleviate possible safety concerns. The location of the generator should provide ample space between the generator and any openings into a home, like windows, doorways, and vents. The location we choose will keep the carbon monoxide emitted from a running generator from accumulating within the home. Situating the front, sides, and top of a generator closer than three feet from another object, surface, or structure can impede air flow, which in turn can cause a unit to overheat. The back of the generator can be as close as 18 inches from a home. We adhere to these distance guidelines to ensure the generator stays cool and operates at optimal performance. Back to List

  • We proceed by installing an electrical sub-panel and transfer switch adjacent to the home's main electrical panel. The transfer switch takes all critical circuitry from your home’s main panel and redirects it to the sub-panel when utility power is lost. In other words, the transfer switch allows your home generator to kick on automatically when you lose power. Back to List

  • Often, it is necessary to affix a new regulator and high-pressure gas meter to your home. This feeds the generator an adequate gas pressure for optimal startup and operation. New natural gas lines and tracing wire will be run from the generator to the gas meter where the gas line will be connected. After the gas line is connected to the gas meter, an electrical cable will be pulled from the generator to the house. The gas and electrical connections will then be made to the rear of the generator. Back to List

  • Once a location is chosen that suits appropriate utilities and local codes, a prefabricated generator pad will be placed. We layout out an area on the ground to fit the size of the generator pad. Light excavation and site levelling ensures proper attachment for quiet operations. We then set the prefabricated concrete pad for a strong foundation and tight attachments. Finally, the generator is set evenly and bolted securely to the pad. Back to List
